Day 1

Welcome to Colombia

Arrival at the airport of Bogota, the Andean capital, and transport to your hotel.

Day 2

Tour of the historic centre

Discover the center of Bogota like a local. The walking tour of the capital will take you through the most authentic places in the city.
In the morning: Walking city tour in the center. You will discover the colonial district of La Candelaria, Bogota’s historical center and its squares and markets. It is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and to understand their way of life.
In the afternoon: you will visit the famous Gold Museum (closed on Mondays) and Botero Museum (closed on Tuesdays) where you will be able to admire the masterpieces of the renowned Colombian painter and sculptor.

Day 3

Historical visit of Villa de Leyva

Private transfer from Bogota to Villa de Leyva.
Enjoy a guided walking tour of the typical Andean village with the huge Plaza Mayor. Visit the main streets and squares of Villa de Leyva, coffee and handicraft shops, a wool weaving workshop, the Mesopotamia Mill, a remnant of the Spanish era (we will discover how the mill works and the life of the local population at the time), and the convent of the Discalced Carmelites (“Carmelitas descalzas”): a community of Carmelite nuns living there in permanent retreat since the convent creation in 1645. They devote themselves entirely to manual labor and prayer.

Day 4

Visits to museums and Raquira

From Villa de Leyva, private transportation will take you to El Fosil, a small community museum that wants to preserve and enhance its paleontological heritage. You will continue your tour by heading to the archaeological park of Monquira, El Infiernito. This ancient astronomical center helps to understand the knowledge and rituals of the Muisca civilization. Then you will go to the Ecce Homo monastery, a religious establishment that was built in 1620.
In the afternoon, enjoy an excursion to the village of Raquira, known for it’s pottery and artisanal products. Have some free time to buy some souvenirs.

Day 5

Villa de Leyva – Barichara

Visit Barichara, located at an altitude of 1340m. Many artists and craftsmen have chosen to live in this haven of peace, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will walk its paved streets, churches, parks and enjoy the view of the Canyon de Suárez. The discovery ends with a visit to the workshops of local craftsmen: painting, paper, sculpture or tobacco, depending on which ones are open.

Day 6

Hike to Guane

We will walk along an ancient path « El Camino Real » where we will head down to a very little village called Guane, where time seems to stand still. Houses built of Bahareque, with nice views over the canyon and the Suarez river, and its small archeological museum (closed on wednesday) will take us to the past. Possibility to have lunch in town. Then return to Barichara at the end of the afternoon by bus.

Day 7

Barrancabermeja – El Banco

We will take a typical transport service, a boat that avoids a long car journey or the cost of a plane ticket. Please note, however, that the conditions of transport are very basic, especially the limited space available. Please bring a wind waistcoat on the boat and a waterproof jacket. Then a car will take you from El Banco to Mompox.

Day 8

A wonderful day at Mompox

Situated on the banks of the Magdalena River, Mompós is one of the most beautiful jewels of the colonial era. Declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO, this city founded in 1530 by the Spaniards preserves a beautiful colonial architecture with its houses and churches on the banks of the majestic Magdalena River. In the morning, we take a historical tour of the city.
Then, we take a boat trip on the Magdalena River with picturesque landscapes where birds and reptiles abound to be explored on our traditional boat. Discovery of the Pijiño marshes, swimming and observation of the fauna and flora. The sunset is a magical moment.

From Mompox to Carthagène

A private transport will take you from Mompox to Cartagena, the pearl of the Caribbean.

Cartagena, tell us your story

Let us follow in the footsteps of the famous pirates and let us be surprised by this city with its mixed and exotic heritage whose cultural richness can only surprise us. This excursion takes us back to the colonial era, with its colourful houses and lively parks. An opportunity to go back in time and relive some of the highlights of the city’s history. Let’s discover the beauty of the city, witnessing times gone by but still defying the horizon.
We will then visit, by private transport, the La Popa Convent with a panoramic view of the whole city, the San Felipe Castle, the main work of Spanish military engineering during colonisation, and the popular district of Getsemani.
