Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Mituseño Urania, Cubea ethnic group
The adventure begins (after picking you up at the agreed upon location) with a motorcycle ride to the indigenous reserve of Mituseña Urania. We will visit the maloka and the kubay hill, where we will see birds and an energizing view of the jungle. In this reserve, we will take a beautiful ride in a Potrillo (silent paddle canoe) through the flooded forests watching the birds. The indigenous community will show us a small sample of their traditional dances. The night will be spent in a hotel in the town of Mitú. The night will be free for you to explore the city as you wish.
Day 2
Cerro Guacamayas
The tepuis or rocky hills of Mitú are impressive and hold a beautiful mysticism. We will visit the Cerro de las Guacamayas belonging to the indigenous reserve Mitu Cachivera. To reach its summit and enjoy its spectacular view of the vastness of the Vaupésian Amazon, we will walk on a comfortable path through the jungle for 2 hours. We will visit the white sand forests and climb one of the highest rocky outcrops in Mitú, where we will enjoy the local orchids and birds. At Caño Sangre, we will take a refreshing bath, a sensation that can only be experienced here in the jungle streams. In the afternoon, we will take an excursion on the Vaupés River
Day 3
Gallito de Roca and Mitú
The gift of the day will be the rock rooster (rupicola rupicola). We will visit the Cerro del Venado, home to this magnificent bird that can only be observed with a lot of silence and patience, among other things, only early risers can receive this gift… Cerro del Venado is also a rocky outcrop of the Guiana Shield, this mixture of tepui and jungle is one of the most impressive things that Vaupés has to offer.
In the afternoon, visit Mitú, populated by 90% of indigenous inhabitants, which gives a particularity to the energy of the place. City tour to visit the church, the murals and the beach along the Vaupés River. This walk is like a trip back in time.
Day 4
Tepui Cerro Flecha – Ceima Cachivera
We will venture on a very easy and quiet hike to the Cerro Flecha de Ceima Cachivera tepui which offers a 360 degree view of the Amazon rainforest. We will also enjoy a swim in the natural pools of the Ceima Cahivera stream. We will visit the traditional Maloca of this community, characteristic for its cheerful colors.
