Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome to Colombia
Arrival at the airport of Bogota, the Andean capital, and transport to your hotel.
Day 2
Visit to the Montserrate and historic centre
Monserrate hill is located 3152 m above sea level in the Andean Cordillera and offers a stunning view of the city and valley. The Señor de Monserrate Basilica is neoclassical in its style and was built on top of the hill in 1925. It was later on transformed into a neocolonial style church.
Discover the center of Bogota the local way. The walking tour of the capital will take you through the most authentic places in the city.
Walking city tour in the center. You will discover the colonial district of La Candelaria, Bogota’s historical center and its squares and markets. It is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and to understand the local way of life.
Day 3
From Bogotá to Bosque del Saman
Private transport from your hotel to Bogota airport and from Pereira airport to the hotel.
Once settled in, we will start with a ride on the highest and longest zip line in the café area within the hotel. Then we will discover the entire process of artisan coffee production, from the harvesting of the beans to the final product in the coffee plantations around the hacienda.
Day 4
Cocora valley and Salento
Departure by Jeep Willys (typical transportation) to the Cocora Valley.
Following your guide during this hike, you will discover a gorgeous valley where the wax palms, the national tree, give a surrealistic touch to the area. Step by step, you will enter the tropical forest of the Andes, walk along streams, and be amazed by the exuberant nature. We´ll have lunch and an early afternoon, then return to Salento. You will also visit a traditional coffee farm.
Day 5
Visit to the Santa Rosa thermals
Private transport will take you from Salento to Termales Santa Rosa (round trip).
Day 6
From Salento to Carthagène
Let us follow in the footsteps of the famous pirates and let us be surprised by the “Pearl of the Caribbean”, a city with a mixed and exotic heritage whose cultural richness can only surprise us. This excursion takes us back to the colonial era, with its colourful houses and lively parks. It is therefore an opportunity, during this walk, to go back in time and relive some of the highlights of the history of the city, the second Spanish stronghold established on the South American continent. Cartagena has suffered repeated attacks from pirates, the most famous of whom was Captain Francis Drake! We discover the beauty of its monuments, squares, churches and walls, witness to times gone by but which still defy the horizon.
Day 7
Traditional fishing in La Boquilla
You will depart early from your hotel to La Boquilla, a fishing village where an Afro-Cartagenian community lives. There, local fishermen will share their fishing techniques including how to catch crabs and how to throw nets. Then, you will discover the secrets of Caribbean cuisine and learn how to cook fish and crabs with coconut rice. Return to Cartagena at the beginning of the afternoon.
Day 8
A day in paradise
The island of Barú is a small paradise where we can both relax on beautiful white sand beaches and enjoy activities such as kayaking and diving. The trip is made by boat passing by the island of Tierrabomba and the old fort of Boca Chica that protected the city. Arrival at the hotel where we are greeted with a welcome cocktail. We are then offered a boat trip to Playa Azul where we can appreciate the beauty and transparency of the Caribbean Sea. Back at the hotel for lunch, we enjoy a dish deliciously prepared with exotic local products. In the afternoon, free time for swimming or kayaking in the Bahía de Cholón.
