Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome to Colombia
Arrival at the airport of Bogota, the Andean capital, and transport to your hotel.
Day 2
Historical Walking tour Bogota
Tour de la Candelaria, the historical centre of the town, a place full of charm with its brightly coloured houses, carved wooden balconies and flowery patios. On the programme: Bolivar square, the Chorro square with its artists and colonial houses. In the afternoon visit to the Gold Museum where you will find the largest collection of pre-Columbian gold objects in Latin America, with more than 30,000 pieces of gold and magnificent emeralds (closed on Mondays) and the Botero Museum with a large collection of the most famous Colombian artist and other masterpieces of the greatest names in impressionism and modernism (closed on Tuesdays).
Day 3
Visit a traditional coffee finca
Let’s travel from Bogota to Armenia in the coffee region. Depart for a tour of a traditional coffee farm near Salento. You will reach the farm walking down from Salento, enjoying the local landscapes of the coffee region. The local farmer will explain the whole process of small-scale coffee production, from harvesting the beans to the final product. They will offer you a cup of coffee to taste, and the local production is available for sale. At the end of the excursion, you´ll return to Salento in Jeep Willys.
Day 4
Tour of the Cocora Valley
Departure from our accommodation with our local guide in the direction of Salento. We drive through the coffee region with its coffee, banana, pineapple and other plantations. Arrival in Salento then we continue our route towards the Valle de Cocora where the main wax palm trees (a tree representative of Colombia) are located. Return in the afternoon to the village of Salento for a short walk in this typical village.
Day 5
Tour of the Quindio villages
Depart with your local guide for an escapade to the typical villages of the region. You will explore lovely villages, with an itinerary depending on your starting point. You will be drawn in by the charm of this region and its beautiful scenery, authentic towns, and the warmth of its people. Your local guide will show you some local fruits to taste and will stop by spectacular viewpoints overlooking coffee, pineapple, and banana plantations.
Day 6
Visit to Comuna 13
Let’s travel to Medellin, a city that 25 years ago was one of the most dangerous in the world. Today, the city of the “Eternal Spring” is one of the most innovative metropolises in the world. Let’s learn more about this spectacular transformation and discover the Comuna 13 district and its street art! This emblematic place is today a major open-air project of redevelopment and reconversion. Let’s also admire the graffiti of Comuna 13, which gives you a glimpse of daily life in this area rich in history, and makes us understand the importance of urban art for social communication and identity.
Day 7
The Peñol de Guatape and its village
Peñol Boulder is one of the most spectacular destinations in the surrounding area of Medellin. Through a staircase of 740 steps, you can climb the 200-meter-high monument. Enjoy breath-taking views over the stunning surroundings full of green mountains and blue lakes. The village of Guatapé is famous for its church and its beautiful, colorful paintings that decorate the houses of the village. On this day trip, we will take you on a scenic drive through the Eastern Highlands of Antioquia. You can climb the Peñol Boulder, enjoy a delicious typical Colombian lunch on the waterfront of the Guatapé reservoir, explore the lake on a boat ride, and take time to stroll and relax.
Day 8
From Medellín to Santa Marta
Transfer from Medellín to Santa Marta, the oldest city in Colombia.
Day 9
Visit to Tayrona Park
This hike in Tayrona Park will take you to a magical place located between mountains, tropical forests, and the sea. You will discover the most beautiful white sand beaches of the country and ancestral volcanic rocks in the crystal clear water of the Caribbean Sea.
You start with a hike in the tropical jungle from Cañaveral. Then, you’ll visit the exotic beaches of Arrecifes and stop at La Piscina, which is ideal for swimming and snorkeling (not included). Continue to reach Cabo San Juan del Guia (2h-2h30 hike from the park entrance), a wonderful, white sandy bay, surrounded by huge volcanic rocks. On the way, your guide will show you the local fauna and flora, followed by lunch (not included) on the beach.
Day 10
From Tayrona to Mompox
Private transport will take you from Tayrona Park to Mompox. We will make a stop in Aracataca, birth place of nobel prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Day 11
A day in Mompox
Located on the banks of the Magdalena River, south of Cartagena, Mompox is one of the most beautiful jewels of the colonial era. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the city founded by the Spanish in 1530 retains a beautiful colonial architecture, with its houses and churches on the shore of the majestic Magdalena River.
In the morning, historical city tour: visit of the parks, churches, cultural museum, a few colonial houses of prestigious families of that era and craft workshops of local artists.
Day 12
La Boquilla, sunset and birds
Private transfer from Mompox to Cartagena. If we like authentic destinations off the beaten track, then this trip will delight us. Departure in the afternoon from our hotel, direction La Boquilla. On arrival in the village, we will enjoy a canoe trip through the mangroves to watch the birds at sunset. The tranquil landscape is ideal for relaxing and enjoying an evening close to nature.
Day 13
Visit to Cartagena
Let us follow in the footsteps of the famous pirates and let us be surprised by the “Pearl of the Caribbean”, a city with a mixed and exotic heritage whose cultural richness can only surprise us. The opportunity, during this walk, to go back in time and relive some of the highlights of history. Cartagena has suffered repeated pirate attacks. We discover the beauty of its monuments, squares, churches and walls, witness to times gone by but which still defy the horizon.
We then visit by private transport the Convent La Popa with a panoramic view of the whole city, the San Felipe Castle, the main work of Spanish military engineering during colonisation and the popular district of Getsemani.
Day 14
Relaxation day on Grande Island
A relaxing day on an island in the Rosary archipelago, where we can admire the beauty of the landscape and the turquoise waters characteristic of the Caribbean Sea.
Once we arrive on the island, we are greeted with a welcome cocktail, during which we are introduced to all the activities available on the island, such as snorkeling, a walk in the mangrove swamp, or a visit to the aquarium. We can then organise our day and enjoy the white sandy beach as we wish.

End of the aventure
