The region is characterized by the great presence of a unique and varied fauna (capybaras, anaconda, caimans, pumas, and multiple species of birds…), and by a strong culture of cowboys. Then the Pacific, between the tropical forest, mangroves, virgin beaches, whales and black communities of African descent, this region invites you to a change of scenery and a return to the wilderness.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome to Colombia
Arrival at the airport of Bogota, the Andean capital, and transport to your hotel.
Day 2
Cooking classes and walking tour of Bogota
After breakfast, we depart for the picturesque market of Paloquemao. There we will discover the most representative products of Colombian gastronomy, and we will also buy the necessary ingredients to prepare our lunch! We will receive a cooking course with the Escuela Taller foundation, which aims to train young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. It offers free training in cooking, carpentry and marquetry.
Then we will discover Bogotá in the manner of the “rolos” (nickname of the inhabitants of Bogotá). The walking tour of the capital takes us to the most authentic and historical places of the city.
Day 3
Bogota – The Llanos orientals
Domestic flight. Reception at Yopal Airport and transfer to Hato el Berlín. We spend the day in Hato el Berlín, where we discover a typical farmhouse of the Eastern Llanos and the fauna and flora of the Colombian savannah. We start an ecological walk, in search of the wild animals of the llanos the famous capybaras, caimans… The Hato Berlín is located on the banks of a small river, at the edge of a savannah wood and a palm tree forest, inhabited by groups of howler monkeys and many species of birds. After lunch, we leave for a second short ecological walk to observe the wild animals present in the reserve. Then a canoe trip to enjoy the show of the Garcero.
Day 4
Hato los deseos
Enjoy a home-made breakfast prepared with fresh products of the farm. Transfer to Hato Los Deseos after breakfast. In Hato Los Deseos we’ll discover the traditions of the region. We will learn about llanero cowboys’ main activities involving the cattle, gathering cows and taking them to the enclosures, as well as the work needed in the enclosure itself. We will also be able to participate by helping the cowboys with the work to be done. Enjoy a typical lunch at the ranch and then go on another ecological walk. We’ll go on a horseback ride or a 4×4 ride, depending on our preference, to observe the local wildlife and enjoy the beauty of the llaneros sunset.
Day 5
Encanto de Guanapalo
After a home-made breakfast at the Finca, transfer to Encanto de Guanapalo reserve. Upon arrival at Encanto de Guanapalo, we will start a safari excursion in 4×4 and observe the great variety of wildlife living in the reserve. We will be able to watch capybaras, small deers, turtles, and a large number of bird species, many of which are endemic! With a bit of luck, we will have the chance to see anacondas, pumas, armadillos, anteaters. etc. These species are easier to observe during the dry season. On occasion, we’ll be able to get out of the car and get closer to the lagoons to better observe the wildlife.
Day 6
Finca el Diamante – Yopal
We get up early in the morning to go birdwatching in the Finca’s surroundings and observe a great variety of birds. After enjoying a home-made breakfast at the Finca, we will keep birdwatching and observe the local wildlife. Lunch at the Finca. Transfer to Yopal in the afternoon. (approx. 2h on paved road, with a few unpaved sections). We will have some free time to visit handicraft shops and Yopal Main Square before you head to the airport. Flight to Medellín and transfer to your hotel.
Day 7
Medellin, its history and gastronomy
25 years ago, this city was one of the most dangerous in the world. Today, the city of the “Eternal Spring” is one of the most innovative metropolises in the world. Let’s learn more about this spectacular transformation by discovering the Comuna 13 district and its street art! (4h)
Medellín, offers visitors a wide variety of typical Colombian dishes. We explore the city centre on a unique culinary tour to taste the most emblematic street food of the region and of Colombia. This tour immerses us in the culinary heart of Colombia for an unforgettable gastronomic experience. (4h)
Day 8
Guatape and the piedra del Peñol
La Piedra del Peñol is one of the most spectacular destinations in Medellin. The 740 steps of the staircase take us to the top of this almost 200-metre-high rock to admire its breathtaking scenery. Guatapé is a small, quiet village with a pleasant climate, famous for its church and its colourful facades and the skirting boards on the walls of all its houses. This is a day trip to experience a picturesque journey through the mountains of western Antioquia, to climb the Piedra del Peñol, enjoy a typical Colombian lunch by the Guatapé reservoir, explore the lake by boat or take time to stroll around the town and relax.
Day 9
Medellin – Bahía Solano
Domestic flight Medellín – Bahía Solano. Reception at Bahía Solano Airport and transfer to the hotel. Installation in our room and free afternoon to enjoy the exceptional environment. The hotel is a true paradise for all nature lovers and travellers looking for peace and quiet and a change of scenery.
Day 10
Whales watching
An exciting morning is ahead of us with a boat tour in search of humpback whales, accompanied by the hotel guide. The boat is perfect to see the animal close up and the impressive mammal is a regular in the Chocó region. Fond of warm water and low water currents, these whales have made Tribugá Gulf their breeding ground.
Day 11
Hike in the natural reserve
After breakfast, you’ll set off for the Natural Reserve of the hotel to enjoy the beautful surroundings of the rainforest, with the possibility of seeing some of the most unique animal species in the world.
Day 12
Bahía Solano – Medellin
Departure to Bahia Solano airport, to take the flight to Medellin.
Internal flight Bahia Solano-Medellin, reception at the airport of Medellín centre and transfer to our next flight to Cartagena. Arrival at Cartagena airport, a private transfer will take you to your hotel in the centre.
Day 13
Aviary and playa blanca
This morning you will take the road to the Aviary of Cartagena, the largest in South America. The first thing you hear when you get out of the car is the song of macaws and peacocks, among other species that wander around the entrance of this little paradise. This is home to more than 170 species of wild birds, some threatened or endangered. After the visit you can enjoy a typical lunch in Playa Blanca and rest on the beach before returning to Cartagena.
Day 14
End of the adventure
Memories created, beautiful adventures to tell. It’s time to go home and sort out all these lovely family photos. Transfer from the hotel to the airport.
