Detailed Itinerary

Day 1
Welcome to Colombia
Arrival at the airport of Bogota, the Andean capital, and transport to your hotel.

Day 2
Cooking classes and walking tour of Bogota
Visit to the Paloquemao fruit and vegetable market. Here, we discover a truly authentic side of Colombia as we stroll through one of the country’s most important retail markets. Most culinary professionals source their products here, which is why it is always bustling with activity. You will find all kinds of fruits and vegetables, from the most familiar to the most exotic. Afterward, we explore downtown Bogotá on a walking tour of the capital, visiting its most authentic areas. The historic center is full of charm, with brightly colored houses, carved wooden balconies, and flower-filled patios.

Day 3
Hato La Aurora Reserve
Transfer from your hotel to Bogotá Airport for your flight to Yopal. Upon arrival, we continue by 4×4 vehicle to Hato La Aurora Reserve, crossing the Casanare department in the heart of the Llanos. After settling into your room, you will be welcomed with a typical regional lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a walk around the lodge to observe the surrounding wildlife. In the evening, dinner will be served as you take in a stunning Llanos sunset before resting at the ecolodge.

Day 4
Safari or nature walk in the reserve
We begin with an ecological walk in search of the Llanos’ iconic wildlife, including the famous capybaras and caimans cattle, wild horses, and a wide variety of birds including herons, plovers, owls, ibis, and countless other species that inhabit these vast plains. Return to the lodge in the late afternoon. If night has fallen, there is the chance to encounter nocturnal wildlife and, weather permitting, enjoy stargazing. Dinner at the hotel, followed—if energy allows—by a presentation and demonstration of traditional llanera harp music, folk songs and poetry, and the legends of El Silbón, La Llorona, and the Fireball.

Day 5
Hato La Aurora Reserve
For this day, you may choose one of the following options:
1.Horseback riding through the reserve, where you can observe numerous bird species and howler monkeys living in the forest.
2.Boat tour within the reserve to admire the surrounding landscapes, with the opportunity to fish along the river and enjoy the sunset at the end of the day.

Day 6
Yopal – Bogota
We wake up early in the morning for a birdwatching excursion around the finca, observing a wide variety of bird species in their natural habitat. Have lunch, pack your bags, and take in the landscapes and wildlife once more.

Day 8
Guatape and the piedra del Peñol
El Peñol Rock is one of the most spectacular destinations in the Medellín region. Climbing its 740 steps leads to the summit of this nearly 200-meter-high rock, where breathtaking views unfold over islands, green mountains, and a vast blue lake.
