Day 1

Arrival in Puerto Carreño

Flight Bogotá – Puerto Carreño (not included). We will meet you at Germán Olano airport. You’ll go to your hotel in Puerto Carreño and then take a boat to Tuparro park. We’ll travel down the Orinoco river, starting from Puerto Carreño to the village of Cazuarito. Then we’ll take a boat trip to the mouth of the Meseta canyon and an approximately one hour hike to the harbor known as ‘El Tablón,’ the plank.
Then visit the Garcitas community and have lunch. After, we’ll take a boat trip to El Tuparro National Natural Park.
In the afternoon, we’ll settle into the campsite, hike through the Maipures rapids, and then return to the campsite.

Day 2

Tuparro National Park – Attalea Trail – Caño Lapa

The tour starts at 7:00 am on the Attalea Trail. Eventually, we’ll reach a lookout point, where you’ll see a spectacular panoramic view of the Maipures rapids. After, return to the Maipures Visitors Center to get to know it’s facilities and continue on our way along the Tuparro river toward the indigenous community, Raudalito Caño Lapa of the Sikuani ethnic group. Observe the production process of traditional dishes made from the yuca plant. See firsthand the ‘churatas,’ indigenous dwellings, built from wood and palms. Visit the Lapa Canyon waterfall and swim in its crystal clear waters.

Day 3

Tomo river

All-day journey on the Tomo river. Hike on the Anaconda Trail and the natural swimming holes and have a chance to swim and snorkel in their blue waters. Depending on time, you’ll be able to climb up Thomas Hill or Peinillas Hill to get a spectacular view of the savannah and river.

Day 4

Tuparro National Park – Puerto Carreño

Depart at 5:30 am and climb Guahino hill to get an amazing panoramic view of the Maipures rapids and the El Tuparro Park savannah. Breakfast and start the journey at 7:00 am on the Orinoco river, towards Puerto Carreño, passing through the Atures torrents. Visit the mouth of the Meseta canyon, take a refreshing swim, get a chance to see petroglyphs, and then continue to Cazuarito. Return and settle into your hotel.

Day 5

Bojonawi Reserve

This morning, observe pink dolphins at the crossing of the Meta and Orinoco rivers. After this, journey along the mouth of the Bita river. Then, visit the Bojonawi Natural Reserve, observe the native fauna and ecological hike, and then return to Puerto Carreño.At the end of the afternoon, transfer from the hotel to the airport to take a flight back to Bogotá.
