Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome to Colombia
Reception at the airport in Bogota, the Andean capital, and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2
Walking tour historic centre
Tour of La Candelaria, the historic centre of the city, a charming place with its brightly coloured houses, carved wooden balconies and flowery patios. On the programme: Bolivar Square, Chorro Square with its artists and colonial houses. In the afternoon visit to the Gold Museum with the largest collection of pre-Columbian gold objects in Latin America, with more than 30,000 gold pieces and magnificent emeralds (closed on Mondays) and the Botero Museum with a large collection of the most famous Colombian artist as well as other masterpieces of the greatest names of impressionism and modernism (closed on Tuesdays).
Day 3
Bogota – Leticia
Transfer from your hotel to the airport to catch your flight to Leticia. Pick up at Leticia airport with the local guide and free lunch in Leticia. Departure to the port of Leticia to take a boat that will take us to the Calanoa nature reserve by sailing on the Amazon River. Arrival at the Calanoa lodge, welcome with a refreshing natural juice and installation of the room. Explanation of the conservation and education project of the lodge owners. Free time to discover the surroundings and the incredible biodiversity. Dinner and night walk where the guide will show us the night life in the jungle, its sounds, insects and animals.
Day 4
Calanoa Reserve
Departure with the local guide for a visit to the indigenous community of Tikuna, we discover their daily life, their traditions and the strong link they have with the jungle. Depending on the season of high or low tides, there is the possibility to visit other communities. In the afternoon, we will walk through the Calanoa reserve where the expert guide will show us the secrets of some of the plants used to heal or feed; we will also see gigantic trees and different kinds of plants that are adapted to the humidity and the various characteristics of the jungle. Monkey watching, parrots, armadillo caves, mammal tracks and various birds. Open to the surprises of the day. Return by canoe.
Day 5
Calanoa Reserve
Option 1: In the morning, hike to Mocagua Island on part of Amacayacu National Park, with unique species of flora and fauna, where we will see lakes with the beautiful Victoria Amazonica, the largest lotus in the world. At high tide, the visit is done by canoe. In the afternoon, departure by boat to the Peruvian side in search of pink dolphins and to enjoy the sunset of the Amazon, always different and with all the colours of the universe.
Option 2: Travel by boat to San Martin de Amacayacu or Palmeras, and hike through the traditional cultivated fields and forest of the southern part of Amacayacu Park. In the afternoon, artisanal fishing.
Day 6
End of the Amazon adventure
Before returning to Bogotá, we leave with the local guide for bird watching. Back to the lodge and departure to the airport. Depending on the flight schedule, we will have a visit to the city and the ethnographic museum of the Banco de la Republica (except Sunday). Transfer to the airport to catch your flight to Bogotá. Then transfer from Bogotá airport to your hotel.
Day 7
Hacienda Termales la Quinta
Transfer to the airport to catch your flight to Pereira. Then a private transfer will take you from Pereira to the Hacienda Termales la Quinta.
Let’s discover during the day the surroundings of the Hacienda and their magnificent forests preserved and conserved in order to protect the biodiversity of the territory and constitute an ideal space to understand the importance of nature conservation programs.
Day 8
Walk with unusual landscape
This morning, horseback ride to visit the surrounding waterfalls. (possibility to do it on foot). We will discover an extraordinary landscape, between wax palms, waterfalls, tropical forests and herds of animals (horses, cows). Lunch possible at the hacienda el Plan (subject to change depending on the day of arrival). Return to our hacienda in the afternoon. We can also, if we wish, discover the natural places where the thermal waters are born, volcanic eruption points where the geisers come out to feed the boiling water springs.
Day 9
Pereira – Medellín
Transfer to Pereira airport to catch your flight to Medellin, the city of eternal spring for our next stop. Transfer from the airport to your hotel.
Day 10
Discovering Medellín
With a complicated past linked to the notorious Pablo Escobar, the most dangerous city in the world is today also called ¨Capital of Innovation¨ in Latin America. However, during the last twenty years, Medellin has undergone drastic changes. Let’s make our own idea of the city by visiting the ‘Pueblito Paisa’ which seduces us with its superb panoramic views over Medellin, the Plaza Botero where the Colombian artist could exhibit his works, today the symbol of the city. Take the cable car to the Santo Domingo district. Let’s discover the ‘Comuna 13’, a district representative of the urban transformation with its street art and the construction of escalators that have improved the life of its inhabitants.
Day 11
El peñol de Guatape
Today we visit the surroundings of Medellin: the famous El Peñol rock, where from the top of its steps we discover a landscape of uncommon lagoons, and the village of Guatapé, classified as a natural and environmental heritage. Return to Medellin in the late afternoon, transfer and flight to Cartagena.
Day 12
Welcome to paradise, Mucura
Departure for a paradise island located in the San Bernardo archipelago off Cartagena. Welcome cocktail, buffet lunch. Free afternoon to enjoy this magical place, sunbathing on the beach, diving in the crystal clear waters…
Day 13
Mucura
Free day to enjoy the island. The hotel offers free and paid activities (ecological walk around Mucura Island, boat trip to visit Islote, the most densely populated island in the world and Titipan, snorkeling tour, plankton tour, massages, diving, paddle, catamaran…) To be seen on site at the reception.
Day 14
Cartagena
Let’s follow in the footsteps of the famous pirates and be surprised by the “Pearl of the Caribbean”, a city with a mixed and exotic heritage whose cultural richness cannot fail to amaze us. This excursion takes us back to the colonial era, with its colourful houses and lively parks. It is therefore an opportunity, during this walk, to go back in time and relive some of the most important moments in the history of the city, the second Spanish stronghold established on the South American continent. Cartagena has been repeatedly attacked by pirates, the most famous being Captain Francis Drake! We discover the beauty of its monuments, its squares, its churches, its walls, the witness of past times but still defying the horizon.
Day 15
End of the aventure
Free morning before your final transfer to the airport. You will return from your honeymoon with beautiful pictures, memories, stars in your eyes and the desire to return for more.
