Why this trip ?
Our Amazon excursions intentionally neglect the more commercial tourist sites, offering a more authentic and representative adventure of the tri-border (Colombia – Peru – Brazil) heart of the Amazon rainforest. Leticia (Colombia) and Tabatinga (Brazil), are the obligatory starting point to access the most interesting protected areas and indigenous reserves of the Amazon River and its tributaries. This adventure is an intense physical and emotional experience amongst fascinating and unique landscapes. The trips are made on foot, by canoe, and by small motorboats. The places you visit, the routes you take, and the activities offered to allow you to enter the heart of a region that will amaze you with the diversity of its fauna and flora.

(Approximately 1h45 minutes). Arrive at the Calanoa, where you’ll be welcomed with a refreshing natural juice, and settle into your rooms. You’ll receive an explanation of the conservation and education projects by the owners of the lodge. Then, you’ll have free time to explore the surroundings and see the incredible biodiversity before having dinner at the lodge. After dinner, you’ll enjoy a night walk, during which your guide will show you the nightlife of the jungle with its noises, insects, and nocturnal animals. Spend the night at the lodge
Day 2
Calanoa reserve
Depart with your local guide to visit the Tikuna Indigenous community. You will be able to experience the daily life of this community, its traditions, and the very close relationship they maintain with the surrounding jungle.
In the afternoon, you’ll hike around the Calanoa reserve. It is an easy walk during which the expert guides will show you useful, medicinal, and edible plants. You’ll see giant trees and the different coping strategies of the plants with the humidity and life in the jungle. It may be possible to see monkeys, parrots, armadillo burrows, mammal tracks, and many birds. At the end of the hike (except in summer months) you will return by canoe, paddling down the Matamata gorge on the border between the Calanoa reserve and Amacayacu Park (depending on the water level, the return might be on foot). Dinner and night at the lodge.
Day 3
Calanoa reserve
Option 1: Have breakfast at the lodge and depart to the island of Mocagua, located in front of the reserve, with its inland lake and unique flora and fauna.
