Day 1

Welcome to Colombia

Arrival at the airport of Bogota, the Andean capital, and transport to your hotel.

Day 2

Paloquemao market and “Egipto” district

Departure from the hotel to the Paloquemao fruit and vegetable market. This is the typical Colombia that we discover and one of the most important in the country. We will be able to find different kinds of fruits and vegetables, from the most famous to the most original.
Then we will go for a walking tour off the beaten track in the Egipto district, one of the most dangerous areas of the city until 3 years ago. Let’s discover the past and the process of transformation of this neighborhood, guided by a former member of the neighborhood gang. The inhabitants decided to leave behind their criminal past to promote and tell their story through street art and graffiti.

Day 3

Leticia – Maloka Huitoto

(Domestic flight) – Let’s discover the Zacambu Malokas, the Zacambu Reserve, the Agape Nature Reserve and let us be transported on the Amazon River. Reception at Leticia’s airport and transfer to Don Plácido Huitoto´s home. Lunch and hike in the jungle to a Huitoto Indigenous Maloka; observation of the fauna and flora, medicinal plants and traditional crops. Introduction to the Indigenous culture with a Shaman: traditions, myths, legends and rituals of the Amazonian Indigenous culture. Dinner and night activity (wildlife watching, fishing…)

Day 4

Natural reserve Agape

Today, you’ll go for a hike in the jungle to the maloka of Boras, and from there go swimming in the Quebrada Takana. You’ll be able to have cultural exchanges with a Shaman about traditions, myths, legends and rituals of the Amazon. After this, you’ll head to the Agape Natural Reserve. Time for lunch and then climbing in the trees, with safety netting and harnesses, to a 115 foot high platform to enjoy a panoramic view of the Amazonian jungle. Dinner and accommodation in the reserve (possibility of camping on the platform).

Day 5

Zacambu Reserve (Peru)

Today, you’ll hike in the jungle to San Pedro de los Lagos Indigenous community. From there, you’ll kayak on Yahuarcara and Victoria Regia lakes. You’ll have lunch in Flor de Loto and make your way down the Amazon River in Peru to the Zacambu Lake. You’ll be able to observe fauna and flora, pink dolphins, and white sand beaches. Dinner and accommodation in a family house, with the observation of caimans at night.

Day 6

Javari river and Amazonas – Leticia (Brasil-Colombia)

You’ll start the day with a boat trip on the Javarí and Amazon River. You’ll visit the Brazilian town of Benjamin Constant. Along the way you’ll be able to look for pink dolphins. From there, you’ll return to Leticia and Tabatinga, and visit artisanal handicraft shops. Farewell and transfer to the airport. Domestic flight to Santa Marta.

Day 7

Tayrona park

Let’s discover the prettiest beaches of the country and ancestral volcanic stones bathed in crystal clear waters. We start with a hike through the tropical jungle from the Cañaveral entrance. We then visit the exotic beaches of Arrecifes, then La Piscina, ideal for swimming and snorkelling (not included), and finally Cabo San Juan del Guia (2h-2h30 walk from the park entrance), a beautiful white sand bay surrounded by huge volcanic rocks. On the way, observation of the fauna and flora of this magnificent park. Free lunch in Cabo San Juan. After lunch, we take the same trail (2h-2h30 walk), to the entrance of the park, then we go to the hotel by bus in the late afternoon.

Day 8

La Tagua

Departure from our hotel early, direction Minca, a picturesque village located at 650 meters above sea level. We begin the adventure that takes us to the heart of the Sierra Nevada. We travel by 4×4 on a relatively rugged road, discovering the different ecosystems of the region. On the way, we visit a coffee plantation to learn about the process of making organic coffee. We then reach the finca Maria in the village of La Tagua, the starting point of our walk to the finca Santa Elena. Arrival at the farm, a welcome drink is offered followed by a typical Colombian lunch. Visit of the surrounding area, and a beautiful sunset with views of the mountains, the Ciénaga Grande and the Caribbean Sea.

Day 9

Viewpoint Cerro Kennedy

You must get up very early to watch the sunrise over the Sierra Nevada and observe the snowy peaks enjoying a delicious cup of organic coffee from the Sierra Nevada. Traditional breakfast. The walk begins on private trails (4.5kms) = (3 hours walk) (medium difficulty) to reach the top. From there, you will experience a beautiful view of the Sierra Nevada, located at 3,100 meters above sea level, which will provide you a great panorama of the mountains, especially on the snow-capped peaks of Bolivar and Colon. The walk takes different paths for a more diverse trek, crossing streams, water sources, giving you the opportunity to observe many endemic birds living in the region. Return to the Santa Elena farm for lunch and then walk back to the car and return to Santa Marta
