Detailed Itinerary

Day 1
Welcome to Colombia
Reception at the airport in Bogota, the Andean capital, and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2
Bogota and its market with local flavours
Visit to the fruit and vegetable market of Paloquemao, where we will discover a true taste of Colombia while walking through one of the country’s most important wholesale markets. Widely used by catering professionals, it is a lively and bustling place of the catering professionals buy their produce here, which is why it is constantly bustling. We will find all kinds of fruit and vegetables, from the most famous to the most original. Then we will discover the centre of Bogotá, the walking tour of the capital will take us to the most authentic places of the city, the historical centre of the city, a place full of charm with its brightly coloured houses, its carved wooden balconies and its flowery patios.

Day 3
Hato la Aurora Reserve
Transfer from your hotel to Bogota airport for your flight to Yopal. From there, we continue by 4×4 vehicle to the Hato La Aurora reserve, crossing the department of Casanare in the heart of the Llanos. Upon arrival at the reserve and after settling into your room, you will be welcomed with a delicious lunch typical of the region. Afterwards, we can walk around the lodge and observe the surrounding wildlife. In the evening we will have dinner and enjoy a sunset over the Llanos before resting at the Ecolodge.

Day 4
Safari or walk in the reserve
Jeep safari in the reserve to explore and discover Hato La Aurora. We observe wildlife such as capybaras, white-tailed deer, alligators, cattle, wild horses, a large number of birds such as herons, plovers, owls, ibises and a variety of other countless species that inhabit these lands. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. If the sun has already set, meet the nocturnal fauna and, depending on the weather, observe the stars. Dinner will be served at the hotel, and, if energy allows, we will take part in an introduction and demonstration of the traditional llanera harp, along with poems, folk songs, and local legends such as the duck, the llorona and the fireball.

Day 5
Hato La Aurora Reserve
For this day, we can choose one of the following two options:
1. Horseback riding in the reserve where we discover many species of birds or howler monkeys that live in these forests.
2. A boat trip in the reserve to admire the beauty of the landscape around us. We can fish on the river and enjoy the sunset at the end of the day.

Day 6
Search for the anaconda
In search of the anaconda, a mysterious animal surrounded by many legends. You will learn more about this impressive aquatic snake, known for its powerful jaw and its ability to remain submerged in water while breathing through its nostrils. Anacondas are formidable predators of jaguars, caimans, and even other anacondas but they generally avoid humans, whom they tend to fear. Dinner and overnight at the ecolodge.

Day 7
Yopal -Bogota
Breakfast and then departure depending on your schedule. If time allows, you may take a final walk around the lodge, enjoy lunch, pack your bags, and once again appreciate the surrounding landscapes and wildlife. Transfer to Yopal by jeep and flight back to Bogota.
Note: The order of the activities may vary and will be confirmed to you once we are there. This plan can be carried out all year round, note that there is less risk of rain between November and April.

Day 8
Bogota – San Jose del Guaviare
Let’s set off for an extraordinary destination, far from the beaten tourist paths, promising a truly unique discovery that takes us on a journey through time. Here, we explore an exceptional natural and cultural heritage. We discover an impressive 15-meter-high rock formation whose openings, depending on the season, reveal the Orion constellation, then continue on to the La Nevera cave and nearby natural sculptures, all while observing the surrounding biodiversity—tracks of wild animals, colorful butterflies, and emblematic birds such as the Andean cock-of-the-rock.

Day 9
Cerro azul
We set out to encounter mysterious ancestral Indigenous expressions dating back over 10,000 years, immersing ourselves in another dimension as we explore and attempt to interpret the hidden meanings of ancient rock art murals. Lunch is included during the activity, followed by dinner at the hotel. In the evening, we visit a nearby Indigenous reserve to experience an ethnic and cultural demonstration, discovering traditional gastronomy, handicrafts, and Indigenous dances.

Day 10
Raudal del Guayabero – Millennia-Old Rock Art
Let’s set off on an adventure, crossing the Angosturas II rapids by boat through the heart of the Guayabero River canyon. We then reach an impressive rock art site, take in one of the region’s most beautiful viewpoints, and cool off beneath the waterfall of the Grotto of Love—an experience made possible through a post-conflict community association.

Day 11
Natural Pools – Bogota
Today, we follow a river flowing over a sedimentary rocky bed, carefully crossing and navigating its fissures while admiring the power and persistence of water as it shapes the rock and forms natural pools. Lunch is included during the excursion. We then return to the hotel to organize our luggage before our return flight to Bogotá, setting off toward new adventures.
