Day 1

Welcome to Colombia

Arrival at Bogota airport, the Andean capital, and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2

Calanoa Reserve

Transfer to Bogotá airport and flight to Leticia. Reception at Leticia airport by our local guide and free lunch in Leticia. Departure to the port of Leticia to take a boat that will take us to the Calanoa nature reserve by sailing on the Amazon River. Arrival at the Calanoa lodge, welcome with a refreshing natural juice and installation in our rooms. Explanation of the conservation and education project of the lodge owners. We then enjoy some free time to discover the surroundings of the lodge and its incredible biodiversity. Dinner at the lodge followed by a night walk during which our guide will show us the night life of the jungle with its sounds, insects and nocturnal animals.

Day 3

Calanoa Reserve

Breakfast and departure for the visit of the indigenous Tikuna community. Warmly welcomed, we can discover the daily life of this community, its traditions and the very close link with the surrounding jungle. Depending on the rainy season we can visit the communities of El Vergel or Palmeras. In the afternoon, we hike through the Calanoa reserve, a quiet hike where our expert guide shows us the secret of some of the plants used for healing or food. Observation of monkeys, parrots, armadillo caves, mammal footprints and many birds.

Day 4

Calanoa Reserve

Option 1: Breakfast at the lodge and departure to visit Mocagua Island, located in front of the reserve, with its interior lake and unique flora and fauna. Visit the Amazon River channels on the Peruvian coast to observe the pink dolphins in a fantastic place where the females give birth to the newborns. Watch the sunset over the Amazon River. Return to the lodge. Optional: Visit the Peruvian community Vista Alegre.

Option 2: Breakfast at the lodge and then departure by boat to Vista Alegre, at the Peruvian border and walk in the forest; or if the forest is flooded in the rainy season: canoe tour. In the afternoon, a fishing tour. Return to the lodge.

Day 5

Calanoa – Leticia – Medellin

Breakfast at the lodge. Departure with our local guide for a bird watching tour. Return to the lodge and departure for Leticia airport, where we will take your flight to Medellín.
Departure to Leticia at 7:30 am by boat, possibility depending on the time of your flight to visit Leticia, its ethnographic museum.

Day 6

Medellín – Nuqui – Guachalito

Transfer from your hotel to the airport in Medelín towards the Pacific. Reception at Nuqui airport and transfer by boat to the beaches of Guachalito. Check-in at the Eco-lodges El Cantil. The hotel offers a real paradise for all nature lovers, travelers looking for peace and quiet and a change of scenery. Lunch on the beach of El Cantíl. Then we go for a guided walk to discover the surroundings, which will take you to the “Cascada del Amor” passing by totally virgin beaches. Return to your Eco-lodge located in front of the Pacific Ocean.

Day 7

Thermals + Whales

This morning we go out to sea for the first time, accompanied by the hotel guide, in search of humpback whales. On board our lancha, we are offered a privileged viewpoint to admire the whales. The imposing mammal is a regular visitor to the Chocó region: adept at warm waters and weak sea currents, the whales have made the Gulf of Tribugá their breeding ground.
Lunch on El Cantil beach. In the afternoon, our guide takes us on a short hike to the village of Termales via the Rio Terco. During the walk we have the opportunity to bathe in the relaxing thermal waters. Back to the Eco-lodge at the end of the day.

Day 8

Second sea trip

Today, a second sea trip is planned to continue our whale watching. Always accompanied by our guide, we are close to the whales and if we are lucky, we will be able to observe them jumping out of the water, an image that will surely mark your stay in Colombia. Lunch and dinner at El Cantil Beach. Free afternoon to enjoy the activities offered by the hotel (additional cost) such as diving or surfing.

Day 9

End of the adventure

End of this unforgettable experience, return to Nuqui by boat and transfer to the airport for your flight to Medellin.
